Just a quick note for today. One of the most basic mantras in investing is to "buy low and sell high." The inverse of that, of course, is to "sell high and buy low." And that's exactly what I have been doing over the past few days. This morning, I executed 3 trades, selling small portions of my holdings in AAPL and DIA, and putting those funds to work in AGG."Why," you ask? To put it simply, because of the picture below. Have a look at how AAPL, DIA and AGG, respectively, have performed since Trump's election. AAPL is the blue line, DIA the green line and AGG the (appropriately) red line. Has the upwards move in stocks been too far, too fast? I don't claim to have a perfect answer to that question. What I do know is what I see in the picture above. As you ponder your own portfolio, remember that cash isn't the only form of "currency," as outlined in this article on my personal blog. What do you think? Would you have hung in there with the assets I sold, the "currency" I used? Or do you think I made a smart move?
